How to purchase online Olympic Games and Paralympic Games ticket sales

We have now announced the next stage of London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games ticket sales. For all the details, see Ticket sales timeline
Please read this step-by-step guide before you purchase your tickets.
Please be aware that, when selecting sessions that are currently showing available tickets in at least one price category, we will search for the tickets you have requested when you click Request tickets. If they are still available, we will then reserve them for you.
Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability.

1. Sign in to your online ticketing account

You will need your online ticketing account to purchase tickets on this website so make sure you have your login details ready. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it now.
If you haven't created an account you can do so now.
Important: If you have already created an online ticketing account to apply for Olympic Games or Paralympic Games tickets, you don't need to create a new account.

2. Search

There will be various sales phases for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and you will only be able to search for tickets during the periods for which you are eligible. Please note that tickets for different sports go on sale on different dates. Please read Ticket sales timelines for more information.
You only need to select the sport/ceremony, venue or date option to generate session information. To make it easier for you to search for sessions with availability in at least one price category at this time, we have ticked the Show available sessions only check box on the search page.
Please remember that not all sessions and price categories will be available.

3. Select session(s)

Select the session or sessions that you would like to purchase; there is often more than one session taking place for a sport on any given day so please ensure you select the session you would like to attend.
You can watch the Paralympic Games by buying either a ticket to a specific session or a day pass. A ticket to a specific session gives guaranteed entry to that specific session. This will either be general admission or for a reserved seat.
This type of ticket is ideal for fans of the sport and family and friends of competing athletes as it will guarantee you a seat for that session.
Some Paralympic Games tickets to a specific session also include a day pass which will allow you general admission entry to multiple sports on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability.
A Paralympic Games day pass gives you entry to the Olympic Park, The Royal Artillery Barracks or ExCeL on a particular day to see a variety of sports, depending on availability:
  • An Olympic Park day pass allows you to see any sport in the Park, other than Athletics, Cycling or Swimming and the finals of some other sports.
  • A day pass for The Royal Artillery Barracks allows you to see both Archery and Shooting.
  • An ExCeL day pass gives you access to all sports in ExCeL, other than Sitting Volleyball finals.
If a day pass is available, it will be indicated within the session details on the search results page.
You can only select a maximum of four sessions to purchase so please consider your choices carefully.
We will search for the tickets you have requested once you click Proceed to checkout. If they are still available, we will then reserve them for you.

4. Look out for the medal symbol

During some sessions, medal winners will be decided and/or medals will be awarded at a victory ceremony. Look out for this symbol when you are searching sessions:

5. Look out for special prices

Special prices are available for the Olympic Games for young people aged 16 and under at 27 July 2012, who will pay their age for their ticket, and for seniors aged 60 and over at 27 July 2012, who will pay £16 for their ticket.
Special prices are also available for all sessions of the Paralympic Games (except the Opening and Closing Ceremonies) for young people aged 16 and under at 29 August 2012, and seniors aged 60 and over at 29 August 2012. Paralympic Games tickets for young people and seniors will cost just £5.
All special prices are also available for wheelchair space tickets which can be purchased by phone.
Please read Ticket information for disabled people for more information.
You must purchase at least one full price or senior ticket when purchasing special price tickets for young people. Look out for this symbol when you are searching sessions:

6. Select the price category, type and number of tickets

Please note that not all sessions and price categories will be available.
You can select the price category you would like to purchase from the drop down list.
Tickets in price category A will provide seating that generally offers a better view of the field of play than tickets in price category C at the same session and venue. All tickets will provide a great Games experience. You are purchasing tickets in a particular price category rather than specific seats.
There are several types of ticket available: full price, senior or young person. Once you have decided the type of ticket you would like to purchase, select the number from the drop down list.
If you require a wheelchair space please read Ticket information for disabled people.

7. Ticket limits

Ticket limits are in place for each session. Some ticket limits may be different than during the initial sales phases, so please check these before you start your search.

8. Paralympic Games Group Organiser tickets

For the Paralympic Games, where a ticket limit is 20 or more, Group Organiser tickets are available.
  • If you purchase 20 tickets for a session (one of which must be a full price or senior ticket), you will receive two full price Group Organiser tickets at no extra charge. For every additional 10 tickets you purchase, you will receive another full price Group Organiser ticket at no extra charge.

10. Add more tickets

You can continue to add sessions to your shopping list until you reach the session limit.

11. Request tickets

When you have added tickets to your shopping list you can click on Request tickets. We will then search for tickets available to match your request.

12. Reserved tickets

Once we have reserved your tickets you will have some time to review them and make sure that you are happy with your selection. A timer will be displayed at the top of the page.
If you don't confirm your reserved tickets within this time limit or you need to change your selection, you can go Back to shopping list. However, your tickets will be released back into the system and you will need to Proceed to checkout again from your shopping list.
If you are happy with your tickets you can proceed to Delivery and payment.
